Not a huge sandalwood fan but Fine's Santal Absolut is quite nice.[Image: d1eb8793c40332898afb1e8766710151.jpg]
It is spectacular. And on most threads/blogs AOS-Fine Santal was/were voted best smelling soap with WK Oud, and. MdC Fougere. I have been begging someone to revive that soap/AFS as Fine STOPPED making it. A crime really.... A wet shaving sin.

Get ready to be happy TommyCarioca!  I haven't started unpacking so I can't do a direct comparison with my AoS puck or Fine's rendition.  But Dom and his team have created a wonderful version with the Black Tie Razor Co Sandalwood scent.  Based solely on memory, the splash smells a little more like Fine's version and the soap leans more toward the AoS.  The soap comes in a nice glossy cardboard box...I really need to find an empty tub so I can lather this one up!  At the very least, I'll be using the splash later this morning.

Thanks again Dom and BTRC!

Ethos - Pine (custom F Base)

Now that my sense of smell is back, I had to give this a go. Soo happy with this scent and soap! My skin feels like soft suede. Excellent work, Frank!

Not a bad looking label either!

Clay Face

No. 88 (Czech & Speake) musty rose

Valobra used to make some really fine soap. They sold their base to Art of Shaving and Czech & Speake, who added their own fragrances and slapped their own label on it. For years, the world was a happy place. But then Valobra went out of business, and Czech & Speake’s replacement soap turned out to be a disaster. Art of Shaving fared a little better with their non-tallow replacement, but even their new stuff isn’t quite up to the standard of the old fatty Valobra base. What made it so good? Clay. Yup. I’m convinced it was the kaolin clay they put in it. But Bouki, you say, there’s no clay listed on the label of my Czech & Speake soaps. True, but my nose tells me different. These soap’s were made with clay and corn meal. In fact, when I want a trouble-free shave, I reach for a soap that’s loaded with earth.
