Salters French Vetiver. Puts the skank in skanky.  So why would anyone enjoy this scent? Brother, I don’t have an answer for you but I do know it ticks all boxes for me!  Smoky, rooty, earthy goodness.  So raw it seems you could feel the grit of it with your teeth.  I LOVE this scent, or should I say stench?  That said, I also love the scent of a new funky badger brush. I dig the barnyard scent of a new, stiff boar brush.  And when I’m breaking them in I NEVER try to de-funk them before use.  Sure, I wash them up for hygiene but I’m not adding highly scented anything to mask that scent.  Am I broken?  Perhaps.  Am I weird?  In so many ways!  Odd and essoteric scents appeal to me.  I am just so very glad that covid couldn’t totally rob me of this glorious Vetiver experience.  It sure did for many months.

Smooth, plump, and bodacious, this Milksteak base is the Liberace of lather. Feels like I’m shaving with whipped velvet and a fur-lined razor. Good stuff, you ask? Well, once I saw a video of Scott (the owner of Declaration Grooming) taking a blade to his face after he’d drunk himself into a near stupor. He wanted to prove that his lather could protect his skin no matter how impaired he was. After some truly horrible swipes, he managed to stumble away cross-eyed, but nick free. That may be an silly approach to marketing a product, but there’s no denying this soap gives a gorgeous shave. The stuff’s got more body than Beyoncé.

What about the scent? Just about anything Shawn Maher of Chatillon Lux puts his hand to turns out brilliant. But of all his many fragrances, I think Yuzu Rose Patchouli is my favorite. A quirky blend of the earthy and the sublime, it smells a wee bit skanky at first, sort of like your great-auntie's powder room. But after a few minutes everything comes together, and you feel like you've spent your morning wandering through the Chelsea Flower Show.

Agreed that Shawn can’t miss with scents AND that YRP is a most excellent scent

Had it some time ago and this one fortunately came from the house of Rob ExtraProtein It's a great fir/leather scent with some menthol.
