What soap/cream did you use today?

Bay Rum (Mike’s Natural Soaps) bay & bergamot

I haven’t used Mike’s Bay Rum for a while, so today when I twisted the lid, I was startled by how much bergamot I smelled. While orange and lime are commonly used to balance the deep, spicy aroma of a robust bay rum, bergamot is usually reserved for colognes and light floral scents. At first, this sweet note seemed all out of place in today’s shave. But by the end of the second pass, I remembered why I like Mike’s Bay Rum so much. Sure, it has a beautify oily subtexture that insures a smooth, easily glide. But it also has a mild freshness that reminds me of spring. In other words, I’m not getting that holiday candle vibe I sometimes pick up with a bay rum. Mike's is a good bay rum for all seasons. (I only wish he was still using the brown paper labels. These shiny metal ones don't hold the ink too well.)
