Wow!  It’s been a busy and fun weekend with family.  No time for DFS (sorry gents).  I’ve been clean shaven though.  Yesterday was a wonderfully bright scent from 345 Soap Company that he made for the NW Shavers Meet-uP.  I like it.  My bride loves it.  The soap performance is very nice indeed.

Today was the awesomeness of MdC Vetyver.  It’s getting low in the pot.

Lavender de Luxe (Meißner Tremonia) rich lavender
Shave 4 ・ 180 g left

At its peak, my hoard of soap weighed well over eighteen kilos. That’s enough soap for about thirty-seven years of shaving. That may be astonishing to some, but I suspect for most of us, this sort of reckoning is commonplace. For some reason though, those numbers irked me, and at the beginning of 2022, I took it upon myself to make an earnest effort to diminish my pile. Here was the plan. First off, buy nothing new (as if!). Second, cull anything that didn’t give adequate protection (actually, this was fun). And last, load like Joey Chestnut (the world’s hot dog eating champion: seventy-six dogs in ten minutes.)

How’s it going? So far, so good. Since January 1, I’ve chipped six-hundred grams off the hoard by turning most of my creams into hand soaps. They smell great, and as long as they're not close to a blade, they work fine. And I've used a hundred grams of soap making shave lather. So, seven-hundred grams have gone down the drain. But there are still leagues to go before I can put my brush down, and hard soaps like Lavender de Luxe aren’t helping. I’m lucky to knock a gram off one of these Meißner Tremonia pucks with each shave.

Now my calculations are always changing, but as of this morning, it looks like I’ll have enough soap in my hoard to keep me in lather until July 13, 2057. That's about 13,000 shaves. I’ll be ninety-three years old before I swirl up the last of my soap. Does the trail look long and daunting? Yes, some of my current soaps will last so long they'll witness the loss of most of my hair and all my teeth. But I'm determined never to put my razor down until the hoard is gone, even if I've got only three whiskers left.

i agree...it's a great base!  Earth of Mankind is a sort of spicy tea scent which paired up perfectly with MacDuff's Caradamon Chai splash.  The soap is dark colored and reminds me of B&M's Lavanille.  i have no idea if EofM would stain a badger brush or not (Will has warned of this in the past with Lavanille) but it's something you may want to take into consideration.
