How is Lost Souls different from your new King of the North?

      

Ok, so I’ll try to explain the difference between King of the North and Lost Souls, 'cause there’s definitely a difference. Lost Souls is like taking a walk on a cool (not cold) morning with the sun just starting to brighten and warm the day in a green forest or park in, let’s say, the Northeast. I can smell green leaves, tree sap, and the moss that’s on a fallen tree; there is a noticeable woody note, and having worked in a CBD lab, I can pick out the hemp extract easily. I can also pick up the clary sage, lavender, and peppermint I used for the cooling effect in the background. It was a tribute to my ex-wife and the almost daily walks she’d take in the local parks and forests in this part of the country.  

With King of the North, let’s pretend that you are the polar bear who’s near the ice flows trying to pick up a seal's scent, but alas, they are not visible anywhere, so the only thing you're smelling is the cold, clear air with a occasional whiff of the salt water, which has a slight seaweed note to it. 

Turning your journey southward, you hit the permafrost with the moss dominating your olfactory senses and a tiny bit of the scattered shrubs thrown in. As your hunger drives you even further south, you reach the boreal forests. Now you're entering into grizzly and the coastal brown bears' territory, where you smell the sweet birch, juniper berry, black spruce, pines and fir trees and their needles. The not so familiar smells of the green forest with no snow or ice around you bring hope that you’ll find some much needed food. 

My friend, a wildlife photographer who travels the world taking photos of many endangered species, put her nose on the scent of King of the North, and she gave it her approval. She’s traveled with the polar bears in Alaska, Greenland, and in Svalbard, Sweden. I used my imagination when creating the scent after she told me about her olfactory journey following the bears. I couldn’t wait to get her opinion on the aroma blend I put together from her description, as I’ve never been up there myself.

Yes indeed! That does explain the difference very well. Thanks, Frank. Looks like I'll be needing a tub of both of these soaps at some point. 

Just out of curiosity, what other animals will you add to your endangered species product line?

You see that brush?  She doesn’t look like that anymore.  My son makes shaving brushes and because I’m stupid and have some disposable income I am his research department.  At least in the brush knot category.  When he makes a knot order I get to request different “sample” knots to see if he wants to incorporate anything new into his offering. This knot was supposed to be soft with spine BUT it was/is not what we had hoped.  I know this sounds heretical but it is too dense.  “Ok, so loft it higher”!  That is certainly a good conclusion but the darn knot is also short.  Even if he were to set it  out as far as he could the knot is still too dense to splay.  I know.  This one is.  So the short knot makes a balanced esthetic nearly impossible.  Great soft tip knot but the darn thing won’t open to paint or swirl.  So why am I discussing a knot in soap of the day?  Because I found the performance of this knot to be amazingly distracting.  I love French Vetiver but I’ll be darned if I was not so engrossed in that knot that I missed the scent most of the shave.  So when I was finished, I rinsed out the knot, grabbed it by the neck, and ripped it out of the handle. I cleaned the socket up with a pen knife and it’s now wearing a different test knot that I’m confident will not get in the way of the soap scent tomorrow. (Or Sunday).  It just depends on how long I’ll need to let the silicone set before I give it a ride on the soap.  I sure don’t mind research and development except when it harshs my mellow.
