So that’s a month with Ethos shaving soaps. I can honestly say that they’ve worked wonders for my skin. Each shave left me feeling plump but not greasy. More importantly, they’ve helped keep irritation at bay. And as an added blessing, these soaps just plain smell nice, full of fresh, rich, natural aromas.

It wasn’t thirty solid days with Ethos, though. I used a few other brands of soap along the way. But every time I tried something different, I could feel the beginnings of the same old hot spots welling up again, and so I came back to Ethos. When I told Frank about my recurring irritation, he was kind enough to send me a small vial of a skin care blend he’s developing. It may have come in a tiny unmarked bottle, but man, this elixir is potent. Four wee drops does the job. How did I use it? First I added some to the Ethos soaps as I made my lather. It didn't change the texture of the lather, but I came away with an extra smooth finish. Next I combined it with some aftershaves. It seemed to pull their goodness right down into my skin. After that I added a few drops to other brands of soaps and aftershaves. Wow. It improved everything I put it in, especially the leaner soaps like Martin de Candre, giving them a softer, easier finish and helping my hide mend after a tight shearing. And finally, I just used it on its own as a post-shave treatment, rubbing a few drops into my damp skin, followed by a drop or two of aftershave. Sublime. It’s really good stuff, and I’m eagerly looking forward to trying this blend in its final form. Has it been a perfect panacea? Not quite. I may still feel some irritation after a particularly close or careless shave. But when I need to put out the fire, or calm down my fussy skin, or turn a middling lather into something special, this is the stuff I'm going to reach for.

Thank you Bouki

I'm glad the blend is working for you and it's a bit away from launching but as soon as I get caught up with a couple of projects I will be adding it to the line and thank you for testing it for me. You brought up one thing that I've been saying for a while now and that's to really feel the benefits of the ingredients that address the dermis layer of the skin that actually help to improve the skin short and long term condition and not totally rely on ingredients that just put a layer of butters, oils etc on the epidermis layer ( top layer ) of the skin. They only provide a temporary smooth, soft and protected feeling which is also a good thing till it's washed off. I think some folks don't take into consideration that only a couple of hours after shaving and especially if you use an Alcohol aftershave your own sebaceous gland become noticeably active and they release a sort of waxy substance called sebum it eventually goes to the surface of the skin and when combined with the oils, butters etc it can make your skin feel oily over time. One of the reasons why I place more importance or on ingredients like the EOS Complex and other dermis layer focused ingredients to do what they do best. That is why when I talk to my customers, my advice when using ETHOS Shave soaps is use them for a few days in a row to really feel the benefits of the active ingredients that don't just lay on the surface but dive deep into the dermis layer. I've not tried another soap brand in this manner as far as using them repeated days in a row so I have no comment on what the results of that may be but I'm guessing unless it's a soap that gives a person irritation ( which I'd advice to discontinue ) that folks might benefit by doing the same thing and using one soap for a few days in a row to really evaluate them. Switching soap, brands every single day might not give a person the same benefits and I know from enough customer feedback that really holds true of ETHOS Shave soaps and I'm glad you noticed it and brought it up.

Great shaves!
