What soap/cream did you use today?

A Omar Barker Poem was on loop in my brain this morning as I shaved with a soap that I’d previously despised.  The scent was like the south end of a north bound Hereford.  Over the years I’d give the stuff a sniff and wonder what it was that aficionados saw in this soap.  Hard pass!  Then in my swapping I ended up with a bath bar of leviathan.  Brother, I love it now.  This weekend I was in Salt Lake with Teton Shaves checking on his customer Mini Moustachery and while they talked I saw a stack on the wall of Leviathan.  Most were omnibus and two were excelsior and the omnibus didn’t have the same Smokey note that the excelsior does so the old tub followed me home.  I’m still believing I made the right choice.  Nothing wrong with excelsior base soaps.  That stuff is thirsty.  At any rate I have humbled myself and repented and am an advocate of the scent now.  Still can’t do Roam or Lavanille though but who knows?  Maybe mister Barker will win that race yet too.

Been craving this scent since my sample finished. My god, it’s glorious.

Also used this version of Levithan today. Couldn’t reconcile other peoples takes (omnibus) with the scent from this blue monstered tub. Nearly finished, but have lots of the splash left. What a gorgeous brush that is too!

Sounds real good Tommy.  Égoïste is not the most focused scent, but it definitely has lavender going on, and I was in a lavender mood.
