Dang. I wish I liked violet leaf. There’s a good dose of it in this here Vétivert. On its own, violet leaf is not so bad, but the thing is, it sort of draws a curtain over the vetiver that’s also in here, and frankly, the vetiver is what I came for. Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s no question that this is a vetiver soap. It has a good grassy smell about it. But I fall in the camp that craves deep down dirty vetiver with a side of smoke and ash, thank you. I’m not getting that here. Will I give up on this jar? Not on your life. The lather’s too good.

Sorry Bouki I shorted you on the Vetiver.. I have to admit I’m not a big fan of heavy, dirty Vetiver so for absolutely selfish reasons I went for a light fruity clean green scent with just enough Vetiver to know it’s there but not the star of the show. I once bought Guerlain Vetiver cause all the Fragheads loved it and I tried a spray or two and after about 10 minutes I had to wash my face.  So maybe one of these days I’ll make a Vetiver for everyone except me. Lol

I’m fact if you want to send it back I’ll melt it and put a heavy dose of Vetiver Absolute in there for you. Not kidding!

TOBS, Avocado

I haven't used TOBS in a while, probably a year. TOBS has earned a reputation of being a mediocre product when compared to more recent tallow rich emu milk artisan creations. My mind has somehow adopted this widely accepted verdict on TOBS mediocrity and the tubs were pushed back in the soap drawer with little chances of getting back to the first line. Yesterday I revisited TOBS and was pleasently surprises by both performance and scent - avocado is a great one.

Frank, that's very kind of you, but I've got gobs of vetiver oils here at the shack. I'll just add a drop or so to my next lather. Or maybe I'll just learn to love this clean vetiver. Nothing wrong with expanding my horizons. But if that day ever comes when you feel like making a different sort of vetiver – one with some smoke and quirkiness to it – you may want to take a sniff of Lampblack by Fzotic and see where that takes you.
