What soap/cream did you use today?

Lost Souls (Ethos) pine sap & horse mint
Shave 4 ・ 140 g left

Four drops of synthetic menthol put a little frost on the pine, cedar, and fir in this soap. And of course it brought out the mint too. I can’t say the shave was chilly, but it was clean and refreshing, and it left me feeling like I was up in the high country again. If for nothing else than the happy alpine memories it conjures up, Lost Souls is turning out to be my favorite fragrance by Ethos.

I’m going to make Lost Souls again moving forward. So do you think I should add more cooling to it in the next batch or should I just leave it the way it is and let people add their own, like you did? I go back and forth on that question to myself, so thank you for bringing it up.

I think I'd just leave it the way it is, Frank. If a shaver wants more chill, it's easy for him to add his own coolant. After all, it's not hard to find menthol or synthetic menthol from a number of online vendors. And on those days when he doesn't want an uber chill, but he still wants all that coniferous tang, it's nice to have a un-cooled soap to turn to.

This is incredible by any standard but especially so considering the price.

The MdC Fougere has been used for the past couple weeks.  Still enjoying the scent and the post-shave is fantastic!

I agree... the Fougere definitely feels great for me.
Something in the Original, however, doesn't work for my skin AT ALL.

Declaration Grooming was certainly aware of the popularity of Creed Aventus when he turned loose Sell Out.  I’m also sure there was a double entendre running around his brain when he named it.  Obviously he knew it would sell out and…… Hey, I get it.  It’s a lovely scent but one of the things I like best about artisan soapers is the various and sundry original scents and I really don’t get too interested in having the same dupe from several soapers that are using the same commercially available fragrance oil.  Good base though and I enjoy the shave.  my bride likes the scent so that’s a win but it’s not going to take Sir Henrys Black Velvets place in the batting order.  No sir.

Folks like the scent but I’m confused by the label.  I’ve never sniffed it?  Flowers and a bloody heart?  Sounds fantastic.

Succès (Ethos) smoky pineapple

The smoky note is pretty laid back. It just sort of gives the pineapple a dusky background. The contrast is what makes the fruity smells pop. I don’t get leather or flowers or musk, so I hesitate to call Succès an Aventus-style fragrance. It’s mostly sweet, tart pineapple, and it smells good on those mornings when I’m up early, peeking through the palm fronds to watch the sun climb out of the ocean.

I don’t know why I’ve put off using this 109 Super Adjustable for so long. It’s been sitting in its box for nearly a year. Truth is, it’s a great razor, although I have to admit, coming on the heels of several shaves with the Overlander, Henson, and Masamune, this old Gillette razor feels kind of tinny.
