Special time with my honey so using the good stuff. Ethos Vanilla Safi in custom wooden bowl, Dragonsbeard synthetic brush and stand, and Charcoal Goods brass L2 Stars & Stripes. It doesn’t get much smoother or comfortable especially after the Ethos (clean) skin splash.

I’ve been using Ethos F-Base for the last week, and I’ve loved it. Why? It’s firm enough to stand up to the rigors of determined brush loading straight from the jar. That’s the approach I prefer since it’s tidy and quick. After a hundred swirls I usually end up loading about one gram of soap. Today’s Colonia, though, is a softer, creamier base. Instead of attacking it with a brush, it’s probably best to just scrape a gob from the jar. But you still have to be careful. Even with some light scooping I got way too much soap, maybe around two grams. The result? Well, you might expect that with double the soap I would get double the lather. But instead I got double the thickness. Talk about yoghurt! It was marvelous, and it’s got me thinking about diving into Frank’s other soft soaps and creams.

This shave, inspired by TommyCarioca and his ThuROSEday, is with a soap formulated for a Spanish wet shaving club.  Each of Joserra's shaving soaps is unquely formulated.  This particular one has a greenish grey hue to it (likely from Spirulina and Activated Charcoal) and a definite rose scent off the puck.  The lather it produces is stellar.

SS you are right - it is stellar. I did not know that each puck was unique. Kind of a bummer. Would be nice to be able to hang one 's hat on a base. Points to the genius of Sir Henry.

I have two Joserra soaps, Black Rose and Rodrigo de Jerez, and both produce really nice lather even with different formulas so I would not let that concern me.  Rodrigo de Jerez ranks in the top tier of all my soaps on every metric.  Truly excellent soap.

I agree with Southsider 110%.  I have six Joserra soaps, all of which perform superbly.  IMO the scents are to-die-for about half the time, including Black Rose and Rodrigo de Jerez, which are two of my favorites among any soaps.

Really nice scent. Adding more smokiness to it would have made it a great scent.

Was concerned F base would be too hard to scoop for bowl lathering and possess lesser properties than the Original and S base - it doesn't thankfully. That stated, still prefer the original base for its texture from the jar.
