Another morning where it looks like it should be mild outside but the thermometer says 23F. Resistance is futile so went all in with Ethos Peppermint..#EmbraceTheChill

This shave, inspired by TommyCarioca and his ThuROSEday, is with a soap formulated for a Spanish wet shaving club.  Each of Joserra's shaving soaps is unquely formulated.  This particular one has a greenish grey hue to it (likely from Spirulina and Activated Charcoal) and a definite rose scent off the puck.  The lather it produces is stellar.

SS you are right - it is stellar. I did not know that each puck was unique. Kind of a bummer. Would be nice to be able to hang one 's hat on a base. Points to the genius of Sir Henry.

I have two Joserra soaps, Black Rose and Rodrigo de Jerez, and both produce really nice lather even with different formulas so I would not let that concern me. Rodrigo de Jerez ranks in the top tier of all my soaps on every metric. Truly excellent soap.

Would you say this is a sweet scent? Smell a lot like a glass of wine?

I wonder how this compares with Dedaration Grooming Weinstrasse which really does have that wine feel to it with its white grape top note. It takes me right back to my days in the Napa Valley. I used to hang out some at Robert Mondavi and they used to serve tastings of Fume Blanc.

Hmm, maybe I need to check out the DG soap, too? I'll wait for Oasisdave response first. Don't need too many more soaps, especially not near duplicates.

Awhile back I picked up a puck of Cyril Salter triple milled soap scented with Lavender.  I really like lavender and I really like triple milled soaps but the real reason I picked it up was because it’s first ingredient is Sodium Tallowate and it was purported to lather like crazy!  EVERY previous recipe with Sodium anything that I’d tried previously was a wreck so I struggled to believe it would work but hey, I liked the Salters products I’d tried and the report came from Teiste Brito whom I count as a trustworthy source.  Well Teiste was right.  The soap in fact does lather easily and well.  The lavender scent is lower mid which I like.  Floral but with some wood tucked in there I believe.  Almost too slick and protective and I find I have to water it really well or the razor guard bars just float too high.  I’m talking taking the lather right up to too-wet.  I really dig this puck and wonder why I don’t see more of it.  I’ll post the ingredients list but I suspect the strong lather comes from the Stearate  in the #2 and #3 ingredients but I’m no chemist or soaper.  It just works well.  And perhaps a purple razor fits with a lavender soap?
