Curious what bowl loading has to do with brush scrub. Not being combative, just curious. If it a matter of preferring face lathering just load the brush in a bowl or fill some dispensers with GD and use as a stick. Have actually fabricated some GD sticks in the past, works really well. Surprised more artisans, including GD, don't offer them as an option.

Find loading off a puck less than optimum. Even if soap is soap, still strikes one as unsanitary plus it introduces water to remaining puck as well as impurities from brush.

Le Vétiver (Grooming Dept) rhubarb vetiver
Shave 6・Price per shave $2.83・7 shaves left

Wow. The scale confirms this soap is melting away like an ice cream cone on asphalt. In six shaves I’ve managed to go through 51 grams of Le Vétiver. You’d think that much soap would have left me standing in lather up to my high knee, but fact is, it’s made no more than any other soap. Granted, the lather is rich and good shaving, but it’s not gushing all over the place. So what’s going on? Where did all the soap go? I suspect it simply evaporated. You see, Grooming Dept lists water as the first ingredient. It's a very juicy soap. I guess a lot of it just dried up and disappeared over the last year while this tub sat in storage. I will be curious to see if this puck keeps up its stunning rate of dissipation now that so much water has dried off.

Curious about this Bouki and DanLaw. My Lavender and Bergamot in the Fortis base has not noticeably diminished. According to my notes I used it exactly 24 times in 2021. Still half a tub left.

Regenwald (also Fortis) has drawn in from the sides ever so slightly, but I don’t imagine it’s lost much weight.

Nothing like a good mystery!

Building a lather on my face with the brush not the bowl is optimal for my face as the whiskers are scrubbed more... actually building the lather on my face....for me it works better Danny.

I get a much better load on the puck - more soap area under the brush... Always soap under the brush. I like a heavy load.

One less thing to clean and fuss with in the morning.

Of course, YMMV. I am a Kentucky boy, not really worried about cleanliness

Here is the link to my post regarding number of shaves per Grooming Dept tub and what it entails to yield 16 shaves per tub
