Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Oxford & Cambridge (Czech & Speake by Valobra) minty lavender
Shave 18 ・ 72 g left

Up before dawn to get an early start on the day, I left the lamps off and shaved by the dim glow of the bathroom nightlight. Funny thing about shaving in the dark: the smell of your soap becomes much more pronounced. The mint in Oxford & Cambridge, which is fairly lost in the daylight, was front and center in the artificial twilight. The lavender, too, was deep and rich. But the smell of the soap base was also more present. So along with the scents of the herb garden, I got a good snoutful clay. To my nose, it bleeds through all of Valobra’s fine soaps.

Sorry man.  The scent is heavenly and it performs great.

Read such wildly varying takes on this soap re performance. Can't help but question whether the formulation is particularly sensitive to local water differences

It could be the difference in water although I've never had any trouble with the water here with any soap like I have read about some people have. It could just be the difference in expectations people have from their soap as well. It also could just be that Lip shave so fast he doesn't have an issue with it LOL. By the third pass it is just dried out on my face and does not have a good post shave feel for me. This after I've gotten it as wet as I dare take it without pushing it past its water band. That's my take on it and just my opinion. I'm not new to this and do know how to lather soaps. I wish everybody the best with whatever they enjoy!

Concurred. Often confused by results others get but then sure many have same take with my posts. So many variables, preferences and unique physical characteristics come into play.
