A favorite scent!

Spitfire (Phoenix & Beau) leather juniper

Still smarting from yesterday’s subpar lather, this morning I called out for something that would lay down a sure soapy shield between the razor and me. Spitfire, as always, came hurtling to my rescue. I really like my lather thick, so you can guess what happened when I superloaded the brush with 250 swirls of soap. It was one of those ‘lost blade’ shaves, where I had to double check the razor just to make sure I really put something sharp in it. And even though it’s over five years old, there’s still enough juniper in this soap to make me wonder about getting slivers when I shave.

One of the best scents of all time

Imperial Rum (Phoenix & Beau) bay & benzoin

I smell the bay, I smell the spice, and I smell the lime, but I don’t smell any rum, imperial or otherwise. In its place I smell a big dose of benzoin, a scent I normally like when it’s paired with other resins and spices, but for some reason it seems out of place in a bay rum soap. Really nice label, though, and of course the shave was excellent.

Whenever I pull this soap out it frustrates me. LOVE the scent but performance is a disappointment. Then it sits till I crave the scent again.......
