We need a better Violet! (GFT isn't without faults either. Razorock, same.)

Amen brother!  A great Violet would be awesome. GFT is the best I’ve run across this far

Have either of you tried Eleven's Clary Sage & Violet?
not YET... Guess which is the operative word

Winter Cabin arrived today, and I had my first shave with it.  According to MacDuff's,  this version is "much different than last year's", at least regarding scent.  I missed last year's version, so I can't comment on that, but I will say that the current Winter Cabin is softer than my other two MacDuff soaps - definitely a croap - and not a soap I would load out of a jar.  OTOH it was easy to scoop some out and smear it on my face, and face lathering was a breeze.  I would expect bowl lathering to be as easy.  The lather was fine, and I wound up with a bloodless BBS, which is not something I take for granted.  TBH though, I am not sure after only one shave if I would give the new Winter Cabin the same stellar marks as my other two MacDuff's soaps (Autumn Cabin and Birch + Root).  As for the scent, I found it mild and liked it, but did not think it was to-die-for.  No particular note jumped out to my admittedly challenged nose.  (My apologies to all frag-heads for being of so little help.)

Get a hotel room and shave there. I couldn't do it

We looked into doing an AirBnb or short-term leasing but the costs were higher than what we were hoping for...plus, it's tough finding lodging when you have 2 dogs!

Garden hose in the back yard?  Cold water shaving….

HA!  I went through a similar major renovation about 17 years ago and had to take "showers" at my kitchen sink in the middle of January.  Wouldn't have been too bad but there was a large hole in the wall so it was basically like showering outside Smile
Brother, I was just joshing you on the hotel. But I am such an Attention DEFICIT DISORDER shave I couldn't do it. Lol

Windsor (D.R. Harris & Co. Ltd.) vetiver cologne
Shave 19 ・ 90 g left

I’m loving this D. R. Harris hard soap. Yeah, it takes a long time to load, and the lather isn’t quite as rich as some modern artisan lathers, but it gives me an excellent shave, even with an ancient Ever-Ready razor. The Windsor fragrance is only ten years old, but it smells like a classic, something you could imagine Scott Fitzgerald wearing on the Riviera in the 1920s.
