Yesterday - B&M - Citricuya (Excelsior)
Today - Razorock - Saturnia (special formula with olive oil and sulfur)
During my Citricuya shave, this spider that originally was on the wall climbed up to the ceiling and then over toward me at the sink and lowered himself down toward me, I think to get an up-close sniff of the lather which has a fistful of grass in it. On his way down, I think he realized he wasn't close enough. So he went back up to the ceiling and came another foot closer to me and lowered himself down again. So I stuck out my finger with some fluff on it and then he bungee jumped down the rest of the way and stopped right above finger. I think he approved of the scent. I do. Kind of a bright and bitter citrus with grass, to my nose. I was feeling some springtime, and so was spidey.
Had lots of other visitors in the last couple days too, glad I get to catch this, working from home.

Shannon’s is a terribly under appreciated soap. This hobby is hard to predict. Why will one soap catch fire and rocket into the exosphere while another, equally good and often better stubs along. Shannon’s is a top tier soap in my book and her Rust Belt Reserve line is simply fantastic. A while back someone was asking about this particular soap, Indigo Oud, and rummaging through a pile (I regularly put out a dozen soaps and put a dozen away) and ran into this tub. Gents, some shaves are just spectacular. This morning was just such a shave. This soap is pretty firm so I’ll load it longer but even as I took it to my face I recognized to load even more so back to the tub with the knot. The next go-round I had what I was looking for and spent time working the tan lather into an off-white emulsion. I used my Rocca razor with a fresh feather blade. With that combo the soap better be on point! Two pass shave (seldom do three anymore) and I was slick as a whistle. What an awesome combo today brought together. Indigo Oud is certainly about the oud but there is sandalwood and leather and a top note of berry that is just awesome. A base of vanilla entwines the other notes and the outcome is what I would call a very nice oriental. Lighter than brooding but darker than lilting, it sits the fence between day and evening scents. And the scent lingers! My hands smell amazingly of currant, leather, and oud. I’ll spray on some Brut after an hour or so but for now I’ll enjoy some more Indigo Oud.
