I really enjoy variety in shaving soaps. I’ve tried the soap-of-the-week thing and it took some of the joy away from the morning. I much more enjoy just “feeling” what I’d like to grab and this morning my digits found Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber. Like yesterdays After the Rain, Ghost Town doesn’t lead my mind to a town made of silver weathered boards and creaky hinges. It’s way to bright for that. The scent is vibrant and young and lifting. The list states bergamot and basil, white patchouli and oak moss, cedar and leather, gunpowder and smoke. I get no smoke, gunpowder, or leather which might have ghost-Towned the fragrance. Cedar, basil, and bergamot I get. I have zero idea what white patchouli smells like but maybe that is the ingredient I’m getting that is so enjoyable. Anyway, I don’t get a derelict town vibe but this scent, whatever the name, is most awesome.Overdosed on the aftershave just to smell nice all day. Interesting side note: I had a brand new blade in the Karve and one side was rough. On inspection there is a wave bent on the edge so I shaved with the other side and then chucked it. Bad blades don’t happen frequently but occasionally one pops up. (Except with Merkur blades. All of them are rough.)

I believe this to be one of DanLaw 's favorite scents. Certainly it is one of mine. "Notes: Star anise, coffee, pepper, jasmine, oud, rose, cedarwood, sandalwood, cannabis & other 'mysterious resins' (from Khalifa) vanilla and bourbon."
