What soap/cream did you use today?

Henri & Victoria Cognac and Cuban Cigars shaving soap. Well, once again my skin has reacted to something in a soap, so I'm going to have to get rid of it.

This is my traditional Christmas Eve shave. The scent of Cella reminds me of some of the Italian Christmas cookies that I grew up with. Wishing everyone who celebrates Christmas a great time with family and friends! 

Nothing says Christmas around our house like Italian cookies. Our favorites? Pizzelle and ricciarelli. We usually flavor the pizzelle with anise and lemon, but the ricciarelli are nothing but almond. And I have to admit, the dough smells a lot like Cella! Buon Natale, Frank, and thanks for making our little shaving world a happier place.

TOBS Grapefruit Shaving Cream

I had my first F base Dragonsbeard shave last night, and I was blown-away.  With hindsight, I overloaded the brush, but fortunately for me, this particular brush was up to the task despite its humble provenance.  The lather was superb, and so was the scent.  At the end of the shave I squeezed gobs of thick, slick lather out of the knot.  --  Well done Frank!

Pizzelle are so good and those ricciarelli look delish. There are so many other Italian cookies that my mother and my Nonna made. Such good memories and aromas that floated around the house at the holidays and I miss them all. Good news is I recently found a bunch of their recipes that have been lost for years.. unfortunately to late to make them this year but next years we will make  them all.

Since we don’t eat meat on Christmas Eve as my family still observes the feast of the seven fishes I make this traditional dish that contains Lobster, King Crab, Lagostino, Scrimp, Scallops, Clams and Mussels in a spicy red sauce that we serve over homemade pasta.

I’m a sucker for rosemary. When I’m trimming the herb garden I’ll sometimes snip off a branch and tuck it in my pocket to keep me company. And it’s green and sappy scent is about as close as we get to the smell of a Christmas tree in these parts. This jar of Gentle Menthol is loaded with it along with lavender and eucalyptus. It smells like one of those herbal wreaths you hang up around this time of year and don’t take down again until Memorial day.
