All the smart ones like Tabac!  I’m with you on that one.  Tabac is “masculine tranquility” to my nose.

Skunk cabbage, funeral flowers, and deep animalic musk. — Interested? I thought you would be. That’s the scent pyramid for today’s aftershave, Ed. Pinaud’s classic monsterpiece, Lilac Vegetal. It’s been around since 1880, so you know it must be good, right? Think again. This lurid green juice is downright skanky. It’s like someone filled a filthy toilet bowl with fresh compost, planted a purple lilac bush in it, and then rubbed the rim with animal parts and pieces. It’s a hurler at first, no doubt, but then something miraculous happens. The stench dies down within a couple minutes, and what’s left is just a nice granny-style lilac. It’s got some legs, too. The musk carries the scent over to the next day, especially if you use it  as a full-body wash, as Pinaud originally intended. I’m not sure I dare wear this in public, but I don’t have to be back to the office for a couple weeks. That should be enough time to get all stunk up with Lilac Vegetal at home. Luckily, the only other person in this shack absolutely loves it.

Great review, Bouki! I enjoy the Clubman Pinaud A/Ss that I have and I'm strangly attracted to this one without ever smelling, perhaps I've been hypnotized by the vibrant color and classic packaging. I had a similar reaction to Dickinson's witch hazel, a strong initially distasteful scent that grew on me over time. I now prefer it to Thayers and have the same sentiment of wanting to bathe in it. I've heard that the you don't choose the Veg, the Veg chooses you. I'm still waiting to see if I've been chosen. Planning to get Citrus Musk on next visit to ABBS.

So your slowdown of various soaps hasn’t stopped your assault on my wallet.  I find myself wanting to try the VEG now.  Great with-up.
