Based on what has been reported here I get that Cyril R Salter scents are very well done. But performance wise, what is your take on this cream? Is it any different from other well known English creams such as TOBS, T&H, Dr Harris? To me these three are quite similar as far as performance goes.
And I would state that Salters creams will be very similar to the others.  Very nice cream

Le Grand Chypre (Barrister & Mann) bergamot, lime, labdanum, oakmoss, patchouli, peach, rose, frankincense, cedar & cinnamon
Omnibus ・ Shave 1 ・ 103% left

This makes a slick, eely lather that begs you to put chains on your razor to improve your grip. What a stupendous shave it gave me today. I’m talking about the Omnibus version of this soap, of course (though the Glissant was none too shabby). It offers a tremendous combination of slip and cushion. Loaded with fresh lime and moss and patchouli, Le Grand Chypre smells good, too. But I think I like this scent after it’s had a few months to settle down. There might be a drop too much lime coming off a fresh puck. It sort of drowns out the other notes and turns the lather into something that resembles spiced lime more than a great chypre. Thankfully, that butterscotchy smell I picked up when I first uncorked this tub of soap has almost disappeared. Still, this puck might be a good candidate for a few days airing.

Tonight, a Caprina Fresh Goats Milk Frankensoap, being the remaining slivers of several bath bars. Original Formula plus the Shea Butter formula, and soon to have some Orchid-scented formula added.
I keep it in a repurposed Body Shop shaving cream tub so as to prevent it from drying out. It's now just a little bit harder than a Proraso croap.

And it's working out great for shaving (once in a while).

Mickey Lee La Belle Du Sud was the second soap of the day post on this very long lived thread.  That was August, 19, 2015.  Since that time Mickey Lee and several other soapers have come and gone, most of them died making very good soap.  I suppose this proves without doubt that “build quality and they will come” is only partially true.  Perhaps the business aspect of the game is more important than the product you sell.  (Well of course it is).  What is certain though is soaps that I really like today may not be available next month.  Mickey Lee was one of my mainstays when she was cooking and it was a sad day, albeit predictable, when she shuttered.  I hope she and her family are doing well.  At any rate, Through the Woods is of course a holiday offering featuring gingerbread, pine, cedar, fir, and eucalyptus.  It’s a very nice soap and one of two of her offerings I still have.  The old Merkur 34C has been riding pine for way too long.  That baby can shave!

Been suggesting this for some time based on pucks I have encountered.  Not getting spiced lime perhaps due to puck age.  Chypre scents, to me, have a whiff of gourmand goat cheese when done right - there fruity acidic notes, grassiness and earthy moss just as with the best chevres
