Salters French Vetiver.  The first time I laid my nose along side it was at Old Town Shaving in Pasadena, CA.  I had one of the workers there beside me and it was obvious he was waiting for a reaction akin to someone stepping on a yakked up hair ball in bare feet at midnight but he didn’t get that from me!  From the initial sniff I was hooked.  Vetiver was already a scent I adored but most vetivers have had their fangs pulled.  French Vetiver, we’re she a woman, would have been much like Pilar in Hemingway’s For Whom The Bell Tolls.  Strong and confident.  Candid and coarse.  But seasoned and feminine.  Hinting of stark beauty born through trial and it’s the mental and not the physical where her allure lies.  French Vetiver is brash but oh so wonderful.

Haha - what a great reference. IIRC Pilar was ever present in Hemingway's personal life too.

Based on what has been reported here I get that Cyril R Salter scents are very well done. But performance wise, what is your take on this cream? Is it any different from other well known English creams such as TOBS, T&H, Dr Harris? To me these three are quite similar as far as performance goes.
