A GD soap, it does not have a name on it, but it is the donkey base and the label looks like a lime that gets electrocuted....

It's mainly smelling from the tub that I pick up that Tootsie Roll scent which I'm assuming is the toasted maple, vanilla, and pear. Once lathered I start to pick up the cedarwood, juniper, and furs which take away that sweet edge that I get from the tub. So I wouldn't call it a sweet scent (although to me sweet is definitely in there) but it's not as dark and woodsy as I was expecting.

I don't know for a fact but it seems to me that vanilla gets added to quite a few of MacDuff's scents.  Normally, I'm not a fan of vanilla in shave soap scents but they do a really great job of blending it in well enough so that it's not too powerful.

Another Pasteur's "new to me" soap.

Honestly thought this was going to be a "throw away" soap at first.  I loaded from a dry puck and it didn't seem like my 26mm synthetic knot was picking up much soap.  I added a few drops of water to the puck and continued to load for another 20 seconds.  It still didn't feel right...more chaulky than anything.  I also thought this could be because our water softener is out of salt and the hard water was having an impact.  After face-lathering for a minute or so, I started dipping the tips of the brush in sink water.  After about 8 to 10 dips, the lather started to form.  That's when I started to agitate and boy did the lather form after that!  It turned into an absolutely superb lather after about 10 minutes of face-lathering.  It will be interesting to see how the lather does next time...when the salt in the water softener has been replenished  Big Grin
