Adrian, quite frankly, I miss the whole Barrister & Mann Latha line.  It was pure quality, straightforward scents, easy to lather, and affordable.  No wonder long after production stopped many of us are still using it.  I shall miss my tubs of Limon and Taiga when they are used up.

Sample: Leviathan 2021 (Barrister & Mann) a winter day in Starbuck’s: coffee, leather, dried flowers
Omnibus・ Shave 1 ・ 75% left

Omnibus is Barrister & Mann’s latest and probably their greatest shaving soap base. Everything Will has ever learned about soap cookery seems to have been distilled into this recipe. Looking for something thick and protective? Check. You want wet and thirsty? Check again. How about a soap that's easy to lather? Yup. Mad about slip? It's all here. Very rich and quite soft, this will be a scoop and spread style soap for me. Even a tiny smidgen whips up into a copious, incredibly slick emulsion. Lathered, Omnibus has a deep, lotion-like consistency, sort of like Tallow+Steele’s or Grooming Dept’s tallow soaps, but I found it even faster to lather than those two brands. Although it takes on water like a steam locomotive, Omnibus has its stiff moments. Just keep adding water, and don't worry, it's not going to go stringy or gooey.

The Latin word ‘omnibus’ means ‘for everything’. Will says this is his last soap base, and it will be used for every soap he makes from now on. But ‘omnibus’ can also mean ‘for everyone’. I’ve had only one shave with it so far, but I can’t imagine any honest-hearted shaver being disappointed with its performance. Rich, slick, dense, heavy, long-lasting, and as thick and clingy as house paint, this is a top notch soap base.

And the scent?
The scent. . .  It's never going to be my favorite. I smell lots of coffee, cream, a bit of tobacco, and smokey leather. It reminds me of getting off a red-eye flight on a cold, overcast morning. Every one is wearing leather coat, and everyone is heading straight for Starbucks for a venti of Americano with an extra splash of heavy cream. I'm one of the last off the plane, and I'm already a little nauseated and dizzy for not having slept. I step into the gate area and that wave of the bittersweet aroma of coffee wallops me and turns my stomach over. It's trailed by something that smells like day-old flowers in the all-night gift shops. Gag. I guess coffee and old flowers are just not my thing. Will I use up this sample? Sure, I hate to waste. But I don't see a full tub of Leviathan in my future.
