Vintage Shaver

Art of Shaving Rose Absolute shaving cream (vintage) + Rose Trilogy absolute/hydrosol. There have been complaints about the old cream being solidified and having lost its scent. True, it is hard, but I find that I can load it just like a soap. And the scent, although somewhat faint, is still present for me - and a few drops of the hydrosol brings it back to life beautifully. The end result is a fantastic lather.

I somehow fail to find the optimal water-to-soap ratio with this one. I know CK6 is highly regarded within the community, the majority of shavers report it provides extremely good slickness and protection. What I personally get (after two attemps only) is a very nice looking shiny creamy lather but with only average lubrication (particularly the residual glide). I probably need to work more on the amount of water, it seems to have less water-to-soap tolerance than I expected. I'll give it another go.[Image: e716f8f9121d1ce5467ea7c871368668.jpg]

Really bad performance. Really great scent. Lather thin and dissipating. Will try again in a few weeks. Probably go unscented with my soap, and use everything else.

Ran with Haslinger Schafenmilk to mediate.

Poor thing has lost its scent. Meißner Tremonia prides itself on using only natural oils. They smell great fresh out of the box, but they do tend to fade over time, especially the citrus fragrances. For today's shave, I did my best to remedy the situation by anointing the puck with a few drops of sweet orange oil and bergamot oil. That perked things up. Same great lather, same great finish as always.

Bouki, do you like their soaps better than the pastes?

Yup. The soaps give me better cushion than the pastes. But I have to admit, the pastes smell much more intense. Both the soap and the paste give me a fine finish, one of the very best.
