I received the last of that goodness from John (Mr Churchill), I’ve been easing my way through because once it’s gone, it’s gone forever

Very nice selection, I think Mr Fine’s Soaps & Splash deserve more than they get
It’s a fantastic line up, I happened upon AQUAMARINE from a WCS email blast in the spring
Platinum is a winner. We did a Christmas in July Day this summer and I put a Platinum Kit in my Pops gift bag

Today concludes a month of tallow soap shaving. For the last thirty days I used only the most protective soaps I could dig out of my heap. The goal was to let my skin heal, and by and large I was pretty successful. Most days I managed three close passes, generally without any irritation, although there were a couple hot spots. Not bad for this sweltering time of year.
But today I broke out the vegetal soaps again, tempted by their excellent scents. I truly love the smell of Martin de Candre's Fougère. There’s some kind of green pepper side note that intrigues me. But I couldn’t help but notice the significant difference between today’s lean, slick lather and the rich, fatty lathers I’ve enjoyed this past month. There’s just not much cushion in the Martin de Candre soap. That’s not bad. In fact, the razor felt much more alive in my hand, and that led to a very close shave. Still, shaving with Martin de Candre’s simple base after a month of superfatted soap is sort of like driving across Wyoming in a Mini Cooper instead of in a ’77 Lincoln Continental. You tend to feel every bump and crack and rabbit in the road.

Several years ago when I learned this soap was being discontinued I stocked up on a few refills. I am glad I did.

Hahaha. Wyoming in a Mini Cooper vs a Continental. That paints a picture sure enough.
Yesterday morning's shave: the Hendrix Classic & Co non-tallow soap base produces a great slick and protective lather. Ended up using about a dozen drops of the Gun Slinger scent. Three or four drops would've sufficed but I was really wanting a 9/10 scent strength. Paired up perfectly with PAA Home on the Range
