I call this the triumph of hope over experience. I hoped it would actually smell as good as the maker described it but feared it would just be another generic, nondescript bay rum. It was  Sad Experience can be disappointing. Cool label though. Used it once, never again.

Thanks for the honesty. Mirrors my experience. I had their Union soap and sold it before even trying it... a fate secured by a very select few.

Morning Ghost t. (Cold River Soap Works) bergamot vetiver

Bergamot and vetiver make up most of this scent, but there’s some really lovely woodiness to the side. I’m getting some sweet and smooth facets not naturally found in vetiver. That must be the amyris. What’s that? Amyris is a type of citrus. It’s scent isn’t derived from the fruit or leaves. Instead, it’s the resin in the wood that gives us the aroma. Sweet and warm, it blends well with tangy scents giving them some softness and depth and helps prolong their scent.

That's a heartbreaker, Marko, especially since you've got 6 ounces of the stuff.

Maybe when you're feeling Smile again, you could make a short list of your favorite bay rums. I'm sure everyone would benefit from it, since you've given this fragrance such careful thought. And it might help take your mind off the stinging disappointment.

Thursday is my favorite day of the week. I always wear a pink shirt to work, and paint myself with a rose soap and a rose based scent. A pre - Friday celebration at Fuzzy Tacos means grilled shrimp tacos, blanco queso and 2 schooners of Shiner Block.....10 years of this routine and I never tire of it.

BTW, a couple of the "finished" soaps have already been re-purchased...Mike's Vetiver & Bay Rum.  Since those two refill pucks aren't always available on his site, I snagged one as soon as they became available.  Chances are highly likely that a couple more will be re-purchased in the future...Forest City Fern and Darkfall.  Finally, the last two probably won't grace the den again anytime soon...MW Windjammer and Shannon's Lit .  Both are nice scents and the soap bases are fantastic but I don't have any strong desire to re-purchase either.

Congratulations, HoosierShave. I'm humbled by your stoic determination to clean up those soap tubs. Six in one year. I stand in awe. Now dive into the mosh pit! You've got a load of fantastic soaps that will be tickled to see your brush again.
