Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
No. 89 v. (Floris) citrus fougère
Shave 3 ・ 101% left

One and done today. It took only one quick pass to wipe away a full twenty-four hours’ growth thanks to this sweet smelling lather. What does that mean? Well, No. 89 doesn’t have the deepest cushion. But if you’re careful with your razor, you can get a marvelous shave fast. And the scent? Fans of Arlington will like this too. It’s fresh and green and mossy at the same time. Classy stuff.

Sir Henry’s An Affair feels like a black tie event.  Sweet without sissy.  Strong without being pushy.  And that lather!

About a month ago, I was thinking about how we haven't heard anything about them (nor from them) in quite a while.

How do you like the performance and scent?

D.R Harris & Co. Ltd. - Marlborough (current formula)

They switched the formula a year or two ago, and I assume it hasn't changed again since (but we never know, do we?).

This acts a little differently than the previous formula, particularly on the first pass, where it is *a little thinner/airer (not as dense). I would say this is objective/obvious, not subjective.

... But, IMO, slicker and softer post-shave feel.

(*It does thicken up on subsequent passes, for some reason.

Btw, the Cyril Salter soap in Lavender is the same formula... unless of course that's already changed.)

Marlborough is a timeless scent which actually I always associate with fresh snowfall and a leather saddle... near a red barn. Yes, it's the same clear picture in my head every time.

Yes, here it's hot and dare I say slightly humid... around 50% recently (we are used to ~15%).

Dreaming of snow (please!).

This is the smell of purity, azone. It seems to me that it is closer to the smell - no smell. I have another soap - Soapy Science Rosa Pure. This is the smell of a freshly cut rose (I like it very much). The performance of this soap is excellent. This is definitely a top soap!

I think I'm going to do a superlather with the cream and soap soon and report back.

I love the nutmeg-neroli-vetiver buzz this thing has going on. Bellissimo, but in English.

THE HOLY BLACK / Coconut Creeper

The Holy Black Coconut Creeper….wow, who knew? I don’t stand in line for brush drops, soap drops (yes, there is such a thing as soap drops), hair pomades, etc.  If you rolled your eyes at this brand in the past, it’s worth a second look.

You Gentlemen here in the soap department taught me how to lather like this.  But don’t let lather fool you, I can make the same lather out of flour and water however it will have zero performance.  This soap has something called “koolada” in it. It’s not menthol or mint but it makes your face kinda cool/cold.  It’s a peculiar feeling too, but a positive one.  Scent is heaven, smells EXACTLY like Hawaiian Tropics Brown bottle Tanning Oil, not faint either, you definitely smell like you’ve been at he beach all day!

Performance is stellar; SLICK, lather builds fast, plenty of phantom lather and a superb post shave feel.  I understand WHY “Creeper” now; it’s because that cooling sensation refreshingly creeps up your neck and face.

I really like it,  now I want to try another in the “Creeper” series, however, I won’t wait in line, sorry.  If you sell out of 250 in 10 minutes, why not make 500 next round? $80 a pop for a kit
