So many great soaps on offer today. Eufros still sits at the top for me. Just the perfect combination of soap base and well blended scents. Not many home soap cookers match Manuel’s scents or his ability to create original profiles. Rosa Bourban today. A favorite rose.

A few cranks on the Chill Mill made this scent indiscernible from 4711 splash. And wowie, that shave and post are special. Blessed times, friends.

It's been hot and this deer knows the drill: Get out of the sun at high noon and try being within a quick march down to the river. Nature has it figured out.

Today's soap was my first outing with the Lothur brand out of England. The soap was called "Dave" (a name very apropos for me)...

First off the soap is *extremely* thirsty. I would say moreso than any of the 50 or so soaps I have tried to date. When I loaded the already very wet badger brush for about 30 seconds the consistency of the lather was almost glue-like, making face lathering feel rather odd, and making my Henson Ti22 razor used clog up constantly. I kept adding more and more water to the brush throughout the first pass, only to have the soap still gobble it up, constantly keeping the glue/paste-like consistency no matter what I threw at it. By the second pass, I decided to go for broke and added what normally would be considered an insane amount of water to the loaded brush, and the paste finally thinned to the point that it was much easier to apply on my face, and clogged the razor less often. This held true for the third (final) pass doing the same. The last two passes were much more pleasant for sure on the application side of the equation. With respect to ultimate protection and glide performance, despite my gripes on the odd consistency of the lather, the stuff absolutely gets the job done, resulting in an irritation-free shave, with no weepers at all and excellent post-shave feel. I guess now I know to go for broke water-wise right from the get-go the next time I use this soap.

As for the scent, honestly I don't have much to say except it smells *very* subtle, fresh, natural and clean. It is hard to describe any notes except it has some natural smelling tea-like qualities, but it is so subtle you almost feel you are shaving with an unscented soap, and when you rinse the soap off what little scent was there is gone in a jiffy. This, of course, could be considered a good thing if you don't want a soap that could conflict with your fragrance of the day, or favorite aftershave...

This is a great scent!  Did you pick up the AS as well?  Personally, I like the scent on the splash better than the soap.  It's not as "sweet" on the splash.  I'm hoping he brings back Viticulture I some time soon

Oooh, a sweet scent?! I almost bought that one several times.

I ended up grabbing Birch + Root yesterday. I hemmed and hawed last time until it was out of stock. Had to pounce after weeks of remorse.

If the soap is as good as folks claim, I'll be back for this one next.
