I decided to take another run at B&M "The Full Measure of Man" this morning. We've all been there...when you pass by a bad accident and you don't really want to look, yet you do anyway because of curiosity. That's what this is this in scent form to me. The first time I used it, I told myself "No way. Can't do it.". So it sat. Every so often I'd open the jar and take a whiff. Nope...still didn't care for the scent. But, was the scent seeming less obnoxious? Maybe. Today was probably only the third time I've lathered it up. I still don't love it. Hell, I don't even know if I like it. Any normal person would've gotten rid of it right away if they didn't like the scent. The word "normal" doesn't apply here. You just know I'll try it again.

And…….thinner still.  With all the new soap bases available I still find myself drawn to a hard puck of soap.  I like the loading of it.  Scent levels in hard pucks are generally more muted and for me that is not a bad thing.  Marlborough, I hope I have longevity like you are showing!

Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Original v. (Martin de Candre) herbes de Provence
Shave 1 ・ 100% left

It’s Bastille Day, the French 4th of July. What better time to uncork a new jar of France’s most famous soap, Martin de Candre’s Original? This is a great soap with a great scent. Though I like all the other flavors offered by Martin de Candre, they could have stopped right here and I would have been satisfied. This new tub is strongly fragranced with warm garden herbs and that ever-present rubbery note that makes Martin de Candre soaps instantly recognizable. Good thing I like it, because we’re going to be friends for a good long time.

Suspect you will find it a far better soap for straight edge shaving than DE

The Full Measure of Man has a syrupy note that is off-putting to me.  Because of this, I feel pretty much the way you do about this scent.  I think that B&M has gotten some negative feedback about the scent judging from the reviews I see in the forums.  With that said, the performance of this soap is top tier and the balm is great (for a balm).  When I first received the soap, one of my shaving pals lukester who had also ordered the soap  asked me if I had actually used it: "You actually shaved with it? Sad Your a better man than I ! May be the worst scent I have smelled in a soap. Will probably just trash mine."  Now that made me laugh.  I still have mine and have actually used it more than once.  I am certainly not a better man than lukester,  just dumber.
