Another wonderful smoke scent to add to the den.  For those of you who tried and didn't like Stirling's Texas on Fire because it was too bold, you may want to consider Sippin' by the Fire.  It's similar but much more toned down.  FWII, the wife still hates this one Smile

The soap consistency isn't one of my favorites as it is a softer soap and you have to smear it all over your face, then dip the knot  75% to 100% in water, and do lots of face-painting and agitating to get your desired lather.  But if you put in the effort...oh boy, it is worth it!

Mike’s Bay Rum t. (Mike’s Natural Soaps) bay & bergamot

Soap note: Since the beginning of the year I’ve used over a hundred different soaps and creams. Each morning I weigh the previous day’s soap to see how much has disappeared. (People do strange things during a pandemic.) On average, each shave has gobbled up 2.04 grams. At this rate, I’ll probably churn through about 700 grams of soap this year, the equivalent of about six tubs of soap. It looks like this chunk of Mike’s Bay Rum will be one that I finish. Every morning I ask myself if anything is going to give me more shaving satisfaction than this soap, and every morning I decide to just stick with Mike’s.

Razor note: the Karve Christopher Bradley razor arrived this morning, just five days after I ordered it. Twenty-three grams lighter than the Rockwell 6S, it’s weighty enough (97 g) to pack a punch but still light enough to ride smooth over the skin. Baseplate SB-C shaves just about the same as the Rockwell’s baseplate 4, but overall the Karve razor is shorter, better made, and thanks to the exquisitely tooled Gladius handle, it’s far more elegant. Thanks to everyone who recommended it.

I had a plan, not a well thought out one, but a plan. I was going to avoid Sir Henry's so I didn't use the credit given to me. Anything I wanted to buy from them, I just go to Amazon and pay for it. Well, that half-baked plan lasted until this evenings shave.

Tonight I used a sample of Sir Henry's Island Estate, Dominic's Bay rum. This has been reviewed here a few times, I believe, so I won't go into the details of the scent. However, I wanted to add my own thoughts.

When I lather this soap I was hit with such a specific spicy scent that I haven't smelled in a long time. Now, my memory may be failing me, but this brought back distinct memories of The Gentleman's Quarter Desert Ironwood. This company has been defunct for a long while, but they made some CLASSY scents in their brief time.

I was truly blown away by this scent. So much so that I (1) caved and used the credit (since they didn't have it on Amazon) and (2) put in my order before I posted this - because I needed to be sure I got it. Lol.

While I was there, I also grabbed a puck of Black & Tan for the cold weather months. Thanks Dominick!

The Sir Henry's Bay Rum momentum is accelerating - and for good reason boys. Beautiful smelling and performing lather

From the jar I can hear lavender and the smell of a good tree. In the foam, lavender fades into the background. And I hear a very good woody scent. Performance-wise, I expected more. Very high quality cream, top tier. But, I like Kaizen better.
Thanks, is this a lathering product or non-lather/brushless product?
This is a fairly dense product and cannot be applied by hand. A brush is required. Foams hard long . The foam is dense, but not high. And this is its main difference from Kaizen. Otherwise, there are practically no differences from Kaizen. The scent is simple enough. Therefore, I see no point in purchasing this product instead of Kaizen. And it costs more.

Now, Chiseled Face "Midnight Stag" is straight up gasoline. At least to my nose, as I pick up none of the other notes. Maleki? Anything but gasoline. Truthfully, my wife doesn't seem to care for most of the scents I have. Usually, she's impartial to them at best. There are only a few that she likes.

Funny story about the Ben Gay scent too. It's interesting how different people perceive scents.

Did you happen to see the PM regarding "Rhapsody"? I did respond, even though I'm probably not much help. Definitely not rose forward, though...
