While stopping by our local TJ Maxx yesterday for some bath soaps, I stumbled across this Cremo shave stick. Being a fan of their cream, and for only $2.00, why not? According to the directions, it can be lathered with a brush. After using a brush this morning, my determination is that, yes it can...but why bother? It's nothing at all like Arko that bursts into a huge volume of lather. I didn't find that the brush added much, aside from creating a more visible lather. In the future, I'll just apply and use the same as the cream. And, yep...just as they state, it's just as slick as the cream. I wouldn't give out any awards to the scent, however it's pleasant enough, and there's just enough cooling to enjoy. It's no face freezer, and that's ok by me.

Tallow & Steel Morocco first use

This is the new version of Morocco which is heavily reliant on Rose Absolute.  The soap is actually green in color.  To my nose, this is a wonderfully rich rose scent with green undertones.  I was reminded of our resident rose aficionado Bouki .  I did not have the description below when I used it this morning and kept trying to figure out what the heck was causing the undertones I was sensing.  My initial impression is that this a well put-together scent, better than Cairo which is also a recent release. I was also reminded of strolls through my most excellent rose garden kept when I lived in Northern California.

I like the art work on the new labels but do miss the detailed scent information presented on the old ones.  Also, the new label surfaces appear to be prone to rubbing off in parts while in transit.

My best advice to those who are considering ordering from T&S is to not order too much product.  The scents in their products are based on all natural botanicals and will therefore gradually erode over time.  I have sensed this occurring in other T&S soaps previously purchased.

From their website:

"Morocco unlocks the powerful aroma of its Vallée des Roses, where wild roses are tenderly handpicked by locals. Plucked at dawn to preserve the damp morning freshness, it is from these flowers that some of the world’s finest rose oil is produced.

It remains a mystery how such vibrant roses began growing in this remote region of Morocco, but legend has it that merchants from Damascus brought them to the bronze landscape long ago. Now these pink roses are celebrated by a parading community at the annual Festival of Roses in the nearby town of Kalaat M’Gouna.

Combined with relaxing fruitiness of the rare blue oil distilled from Morocco’s tansy flower, and the leafy-green notes of Moroccan petitgrain, the balsamic notes of Atlas cedarwood enrich the fresh citrus to harmonize the pure rose absolute - establishing a creation that is delicately spicy, fruity and floral.

This is a scent that originates from the heart of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. Just as the rose journeyed from ancient Syria to the heart of Morocco, this intoxicating fragrance will move the Valley of Roses to you.

Rose (52%) | Bitter Orange (18%) | Lime (15%) | Atlas Cedarwood (7%) | Petitgrain (5%) | Blue Tansy (3%) | 100% natural aromatic extracts from botanicals.

Actually, if you go to his web site Florentine Fern is sold as a cream and not a soap.
Sorry I wasn't clear there... Just asking about the cream formula vs soap formula (ignoring the scent). You think the cream formula is better performance and post shave?

Some of his soaps use various formulas not just scents. I currently own 6 of his products and I like them all.  Soap or cream it does not make a difference.

Hot yesterday and cold today.  54 is the high and it’s windy.  Was supposed to rain but that has vaporized.  Wow, we could use some rain.  Our snowpack was great until March when we dried up and got little snow in March and April, both historically wet months.  May again was dry and Idaho finds itself in a drought.  Certainly other states have it worse than us but it needed to rain and I was praying for rain and ….. no rain.  But it is a cold day so Ouroboros seemed like the best choice.  I’m not one that classifies most soaps into seasons because sometimes a winter soap is just right in the heat of summer and sometimes a bright summer type soap is just what’s needed on a grey winter day.  Ouroboros is a heavy scent though that will always be more fitting to cooler weather for me.  I sure do like it.

Cade Cream 2021 v. (L’Occitane) faint fruity floral

L’Occitane’s Cade cream used to smell like smoky spices, herbs, and woods. It was wonderful. I went through a whole tube in a matter of months and I loved every shave. That was back in 2015. At some point between then and now the reformulators got hold of the fragrance. Gone is the smoke and the spice. In its place you’ll find the faint smell of apricots and flowers with a touch of coconut around the edges. It’s fine but it bears no relation to the deep smoky reek of real cade. In fact, this reminds me more of cold cream than a shaving cream – pleasant enough but not exactly attractive. At least the performance hasn’t changed. I got a perfect one-pass shave. Still, I miss the old scent.

So, did you like it Southsider? Does it smell like a smoky rose?

Agreed! The OLD scent is where it’s at! HighSpeed gave me a wonderful time capsule recently, and my Grandfather countered when I mentioned what Mike sent me!

They don’t make em like they used to!
