Mint Ice Menthol Cream v. (Meißner Tremonia) minty eucalyptus

By 9:00 a.m. it was well over 80°F here inside the shack. Summer’s back with a vengeance. Time to put the chillers into full rotation. When it comes to coolness, Mint Ice Menthol leads my pack. It’s not the coldest I’ve ever lathered. Barrister & Mann’s Arctique takes that dubious honor. But it’s pleasantly cool, maybe just a tad cooler than Stirling’s menthol soaps. Smells good, too. The peppermint isn’t clobbered by the eucalyptus or the menthol. Everything manages to get along smoothly. The lather looks light and airy, but in fact it gives me a very nice shave. It's loaded with talc, and something about that just suits my skin. There are about fifteen shaves left in this jar. I'm hoping to clean it up by the end of summer.

For whatever reason, I felt the need for some vetiver this morning. Not that I need a reason aside from just wanting to smell it. I got a little heavy-handed with loading and was rewarded with an enormous amount of super slick drippy goodness. It took quite a bit of water to get 'er dialed in, however it was worth every second. I can assure you the lather looked a whole lot better than this flat looking image.

LEA Classic, with PAA Ice Cube pre-shave soap

I'm quickly becoming a menth head. That was the only reason I shaved... so that I can use products with menthol.

This was the first use with the LEA, and since I used the Phoenix Ice Cube, I can't tell you how much of the performance and cooling was attributed to each. What I can say is that it was a great cool shave.

Finished with the Osage Rub for more menthol.

Is it just me or do you think their "cream soap" is a lot better than their normal soap?

Actually, if you go to his web site Florentine Fern is sold as a cream and not a soap.

Sorry I wasn't clear there... Just asking about the cream formula vs soap formula (ignoring the scent). You think the cream formula is better performance and post shave?

Up today is Nuavia Verde by PannaCrema.

I really wish I was not among the relative few who are not fans of any of the Nuavia scents, because all of them have superior performance on my skin. They (Verde included) are the only shaving soaps I intentionally abstain from any pre or post shave products, because they are completely unnecessary.

In the case of Verde, the scent is probably my favorite of the Nuavia offerings, proving a relatively benign Acqua di Gio profile, adding a sharp green tinge. Nothing earthshaking surely, but wholly inoffensive. As mentioned and expected, performance on my skin is unmatched, including post-shave.

The residual heat and humidity this morning demanded a mix of Ethos Lavender Supreme (2/3) with a cooling touch of Ethos Peppermint (1/3)…Just outstanding!
