$250 was cost for scent; then there the other ingredients - de minimis but yet there and whether one wants a jar reflecting a multi hundred dollar soap. Finally, there is the matter of an appropriate profit margin for the artisan. $250 rapidly has turned into $400 even using a standard jar - possibly $500+ if cool jar and artisan wants comped for doing small batch soap versus 10-20 jars to spread out effort.

B&M Terror (Excelsior)

The spot was hit.
We needed some serious cooling and found it staring right back, bless you Will.

I was on a little walk before the shave this evening and crossed a pedestrian bridge where I finally saw the occupant of this monster nest. I reckon it's an osprey, but I'm not certain. I was expecting a pterodactyl some day, but this dampens that outcome.

Salty Sea Sage v. (Meißner Tremonia) buttery sage

Yes, after shaving with Salt Sea Sage, you do smell a little like turkey stuffing. I generally like herby smells, but this sage shaving soap will take some getting used to. I’ve smelled sage in other European soaps, but it’s not a note that’s really caught on in North America. I suppose the association of sage with Thanksgiving dinner is too strong. There’s also a sweet element in it that smells like butter. Now its got me hungry. Time for salvia fritta, Italian fried sage leaves.

Wow!  I've only tried Eufros one other time and it was a sample.  I've always felt that samples are best for determining whether you like a scent and not for judging the performance of the soap.  When I tried the sample, I wasn't that impressed with the performance or the lather.  Today's shave solidified my belief that you have to judge it from the tub...this stuff produces a great lather!

It's too bad I didn't shave before going out in the woods, I could have used the skeeter repellent.

(And it’s discontinued....)

Lip, my tub of this highly esteemed cream arrived yesterday too. As soon as the mail lady brought the parcel, I opened it and passed the tub to my wife. She twisted off the cap, clutched the tub close, took a deep sniff, kinda purred, and then turned away from me. When I reached out my hand so I could smell it too, she growled the way my Rhodesian Ridgeback pup did when I tried to take away his bone. Thanks for telling me what Rose Absolute smells like, because I'm never going to see this tub again.
Funny. Steal it back in the dark of the night. Beautiful stuff

Murphy and McNeil Trinity is their Aventus dupe and a pretty fair one. Lather is easy.  Slickness is good.  This one leaves me a bit tight post shave.  Aventus is/was so popular that it seems all soapers have to offer a dupe to be relevant.  Aventus to my nose is nice but not earth shattering.  I get how it has garnered mass appeal and it sure seems to appeal to ladies, but if you know me, you will realize I don’t need any help with the ladies!  Ask around.
