What soap/cream did you use today?

Black Rose v. (The Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company) spiced rose

I smell rose, nutmeg, chocolate, … and hot metal. Odd. This isn’t your granny’s rose. I’m not sure it’s mine. There’s nothing offensive about Black Rose, but the scent is so mild it’s gone by the time the razor hits your face. To be fair, I should mention that this is a sample. Who knows how long it’s been sitting in its tublet? It’s possible that the fragrance has gone off. Will I be ordering a whole tub? If there was something truly, excruciatingly beautiful about the performance, I would. But though it was fine and acceptable, it’s just not that remarkable.

Yesterday's mid-afternoon shave - I bloomed the soap while I showered and then tried loading with a completely dry 28mm synthetic fan.  It didn't work too well for me and, as you can see, the lather ended up with a lot of bubbles.  This user-error most certainly didn't take away from the scent though.  A pleasant lemon-forward scent that I could swear includes cedar (per the MacDuff's website, there is no cedar).

I’ve been using this one lately as well! It could be the combination of Cardamon and lavender. Great scent for those cool spring days, many of which we’ve had in the last 2 weeks.

I really don’t find this soap easy to use (milk steak) but I sure enjoy how it shaves and the scent is heavenly.  As you know, I really like lavender in almost any formula.  This one is undoubtedly a lavender scent but added eucalyptus and black pepper (and some other things) and you get a darker, less floral affair.
