What soap/cream did you use today?

I felt the same way when I first got it. Unfortunately, I gave it away so I didn't get to experience the "smoke". Glad you stuck with it though!

Stirling Soap is a good place to start. Best value you can get for artisan soap.

If you’re willing to spend a bit more for the best, my personal favorites are Mammoth, Declaration Grooming, Barrister & Mann.

Fellas, when you feel some soap is leaving your skin dry (or the soap quality is not your top tier) just add 3-4 drops of pure glycerine in the process of lathering. You'll find a great improvement on your lather and the post shave feel of your skin.
