I went down the rose rat hole 10 years ago. One of my favorite notes, and quite frankly there are only a hand full that are 'scent' worthy. I gave up trying to find a non-granny note:

1.  Soap Commander Love - stand out true rose
2.  Wholly Kaw Rose Concerto
3.  Salters Wild Rose
4.  Eufros Rose Oud

SECOND TIER
5.  Mystic Water Yellow Rose
6.  Czech & Speake 88 [dark spicy]
7.  Caties Bubbles La Rose du Mechant
8.  Dusy Kabinett - slightly granny
9.  TOBS Rose [cream] - full granny
10.  DRH Rose [cream] - full granny
You make me laugh out loud, TommyCarioca! Getting around granny has always been the trouble with rose. In fact, I had to finally pitch Cold River's Summer Rose. It smelled just like the small room in my grandparents' house after Sunday dinner, when everybody had given the rose air freshener a workout.

This list looks excellent! Thanks. I've got a tub of Love on the way along with a jar of Wild Rose. In the past I tried Mystic Water's Yellow Rose, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I'll give it another whirl. I think I've got samples or full tubs of everything else on the list, so let the rosy revels begin.

When it comes to fragrance, I suspect you favor PoaL. Can you recommend any other rose centered fragrances that smell good, but won't make me smell like a ponce?

One last question: I see you're passing on your McDuff's Earl Grey soaps. Was it just the scent that disappointed? I ask because I just ordered their Rose Gold soap. I'm hoping for good things.

No. 88 t. (Czech & Speake) musty rose

This one strikes me as a fruity rose. Along with the floral notes, I get plums and melons and a pinch of raspberry. But the thing is, there’s this musty note mixed in with all the tasty bits. It kind of reminds me of a basket of fresh fruit that’s been sitting out too long and has turned a little fuzzy. I wonder what I’m smelling? Sandalwood? Cassis? Nothing wrong with the performance. You can romp all over your face with a heavy razor and a sharp blade and come away with nothing but a smile.

Superlather: A&E Asian Pear and Fine Platinum cream

I think I've only superlathered three or four times in my life... So why?

One thing led to another... The Asian Pear already had a fruity vibe and the Platinum was already sitting at the sink. So why not.

The result: I'll be doing this more. The level of comfort was 12 out of 10.

Great stuff Bouki. I couldn't pin this down - the fruitiness - but 2 of my favorite notes brighten and smooth it - geranium and frangipani. Spicy and juicy

Yes, Mystic Yellow Rose gets dangerously close to grandma. I rarely lather it up now.

Rose edt/edp list coming. Run for the roses has us charged up!

I do the uber or super lather frequently with tobs and drh as they have paired creams and soaps. It does make a noticeable improvement Nero. Good to see you get back on this. I am now reminded to do same. I did just exactly that this week with DRH Sandalwood.

Bouki-meister, it was the scents. Performance was solid [although residual slickness was average]. Anxious to see your review of their rose puck.
