Saponificio Varesino Alpina
I went crazy 5 years ago and bought two of these faux tortoise shell soap containers for my SVs. I mashed Alpina and Felce in them - per my favorites at the time [Cubebe usurps Alpina but too late, insertions made]. To me, Alpina is a blast of lemon and bergamot. The eucalyptus 'modifies' the citrus. Man, this pairs perfectly with LeLabo Bergamot 22. The good thing, for citrus fragrances, both the soap and the EDT cling and hang on in the heat. What I really note about the soap is how it rinses off. My tallow preferences have trained me to expect that 'lotion' feel I get with them on usage/post. This is a clean feeling shave and post - not as moisturizing - but I can see rolling with this brand more in the heat of the summer - [not a cold weather product for me now].

Strong ’n Scottish v. (Meißner Tremonia) whisky
As HoosierShave noted a few days back, these Meißner Tremonia soaps smell strong off the puck but their lather is mild. That’s a good thing, because this jar of Strong ’n Scottish is a real reeker. When I need to clear my head, I reach for this. Smoky and boozy and medicinal, it reminds me of some sort of Victorian antiseptic. While interesting, it’s not really something you think would make a good shave soap, but in fact the lather turns warm and mellow. My wife takes a whiff and says she smells the charred wood of the barrel. And the lanolin makes for an extra smooth shave and finish.
____________
Meißner Tremonia: Strong n Scottish (165 g left) ・ Gillette Tech ・ Astra Superior Platinum ・ Phoenix Shaving Solar Flare ・ Soap Hoard: 11,245 g ・ Used this year: 178 g
