Well, the scent is definitely much bolder off the puck.  With a good 10 minutes of face-lathering and 3 passes, the scent stayed throughout the shave.  But where the scent-strength is a 10 off the puck, the lather itself is probably a 5.  Decided to pair this up with Mammoth Embrace balm. Beer for the main course and wine for dessert...a meal I likely would have enjoyed 20 years ago Smile

The “Ach.” in Ach. Brito stands for Achilles. I say this name like this: "Akilleez." But in Portuguese "ch" sounds like English "sh." So I guess if I want to follow Portuguese pronunciation, I should call this company "Ash. Brito." Just who was this Achilles Brito? Time to rewind. In 1887 a pair of German chemists, Ferdinand Claus and Georges Schweder, settled in Portugal and began producing soaps and perfumes. Their firm came to be known as Claus & Schweder. In time they hired Achilles Alves de Brito, who eventually took Schweder’s place after he left the firm because of illness. During the First World War, Claus was forced to auction off his company because it was partly owned by Germans. Achilles Brito bought it and changed the name to Ach. Brito. But people still demanded the products sold under the Claus & Scheweder label. So two brands were formed: Claus Porto and Ach. Brito. More expensive products were sold under the Claus Porto label; domestic goods came under the Ach. Brito brand. That’s why a tube of Claus Porto’s Musgo Real shaving cream now costs about $24, while the same amount of Ach. Brito’s Mogno sells for $14. The scents, of course, are different, but the cream inside, as far as I can tell, is the same.
Nice info, interesting!
You like the scent, Bouki?
Performance?
The scent is alright. Maybe a little too chemical smelling for true adoration, but alright. Same goes for the performance. It's alright, but I'm not sure I'd want to use it every day. The finish isn't anything to write about.
Yeah, I hear ya on the performance.... I used the Musgo green once.... And said see yaaaaaa!!

HoosierShave: was there a rubber O-ring under the puck? If so, you may want to pull it out, especially if you load straight from the jar. I found, much to my chagrin, that when I load from the Meißner Tremonia jar, the O-ring catches water from my brush and makes a swampy mess of the bottom of the puck. I chucked the O-rings under all my Meißner Tremonia soaps and then pressed the cake deep into the jar, pushing it up to the edges so that water wouldn't seep past the sides. (Looks like that lather is two swirls away from turning into butter!)

Natural Bay Rum v. (Meißner Tremonia) West Indies bay, rum, cloves

For purity on a theme, Meißner Tremonia’s Natural Bay Rum still takes the cake. They don’t prettify this classic scent with tea, ginger, vanilla, lime, etc., etc. It’s just bay and rum with a light dusting of clove to accentuate the bay. And it’s a bit rough, as it should be.

What wasn’t rough was my Gillette fat handle wartime Tech. This was my first shave with one of these legendary razors. It was remarkable. Granted, I had a great soap and thirty hours of growth to work with, but even under less than favorable conditions, I imagine this antique razor would still give me as close and comfortable a shave as any of my newer and far pricier razors. I have to admit, though, that I was very surprised by just how small it is. Fully assembled, the whole thing fits comfortably in the palm of my small hand. And the ‘fat’ handle is no wider than any of my other handles. Nevertheless, this quick and nimble razor easily earns honors for shave of the week.

Sometimes you don't want to spend all day making a lather like Jack from The Virtual Groomroom on YouTube does. Not that there's anything wrong with that. When you just want to get your shave on, good ol' Proraso lathers up quickly and isn't fussy about hydration. It's a classic for a reason. Works great, smells great. Got a fab shave, then spent the day painting the bedroom.
