La Fougère Parfaite t. (Wholly Kaw) Brut

What makes this the ‘perfect fougère’? Compared to all my other fougères, this fragrance is mild and ho hum. It’s the dupe of a five-dollar drugstore cologne afterall, so it doesn’t score big on creativity. But I reach for it often, and I enjoy using it for one reason: it’s never cloying. Fougères can be pushy. They’ll get under your skin and make you smell salady for a few hours. This isn’t like that. The lather smells good, but that smell doesn’t linger. I get a great shave, and the next day, I’m ready to reach for La Fougère Parfaite again.

Great choice Bouki- you inspired my choice for the day. It's hard to go wrong with anything Wholly Kaw. Particularly this scent.

Wow...I'm a little surprised we don't see MacDuff's in this soap section more often.  This was a great lather and, quite honestly, it probably needed more water.  I was just tired of face-painting  .  The scent on this one is really fun.  At times, I was picking up burnt chocolate and other times it was a spicy leather.  There were all kinds of changes to the scent and it lasted well into the shave.  Looking forward to using this one again but I will either load less or add more water next time.  Either way, I'm sure the lather is going to be excellent!

HoosierShave, if you ever get tired of shaving with it, it would probably make a good chip dip, or go well with Nero's chicken wings.

Nectar Amissa t. (Noble Otter) spiced potpourri

“Ummm, your face is so smooth.” My wife of thirty years rarely remarks on the quality of my shave. She notices scents from time to time, but usually not the closeness. When she does comment on the baby-buttitude of my last shave, I’m a bit flabbergasted, and I start wondering what went right. For today’s happy shave, a lot of the credit is due, first of all, to the razor. The Rockwell 6S makes up for what it lacks in glamor with an outstanding close and comfortable shave. I love baseplate 4 when I’m shaving seven days a week. And of course today’s soap also scored some major points. To be honest, there’s not whole lot that’s special about Noble Otter soaps. They do a good, but maybe not a great job in all the important categories. But they are truly outstanding in one area: residual slickness. If you really want to enjoy a shave with one of their soaps, don’t be afraid to ride the cap of your razor on the cross-grain and against-grain passes and try a little buffing. Then go find your wife.

I haven't tried that particular scent nor am I really that picky about soap bases but I did find their recent soap base update to be quite an improvement on the last. The Rockwell looks like a winner performance wise never heard a bad word about it. Like so many though it just looks a touch heavy for my tastes these days. I wish more makers would come out with a Fatip Piccolo type handle option.
