Today I used the sample of Ethos  Agrumes graciously given to me by Dave in KY

As expected, when it was lathered the scent jumped out. It was light, but prominent enough. A majority of the scent was a bitter, less sweet grapefruit type scent. My guess works be yellow grapefruit dominates here? Personally, I gravitate towards sweet scents and would have loved something more in that direction.

One thing I noticed with this, that didn't happen with the Colonia, the lather dried out while I prepared for the shave. Now, I left it on for a bit longer than normal (maybe 8 mins, instead of the usual 5 mins). That could be the issue? Nonetheless, easy to fix and I was ready to go.

The shave itself was, again, really good. The protection of this soap was great with good slickness. It could be my lathering, but the residual slickness is where I felt like I've used better.

Now, for me personally, the star of the show is in the post shave feel. It's simply off the charts. While I didn't tempt fate, I felt like I could have forgone the aftershave balm all together.

Nonetheless, two great shaves. Thanks again Dave in KY and Dragonsbeard  !

Thanks for the honest review and it’s to bad you don’t have the Aroma blend that comes with the Shave soap as I think you’d find it not only much stronger but sweeter.  The reason the scent is week is two reasons. It’s just made of nothing but 100% organic essential oils of Ruby Red, Pink and White Grapefruit along with May Change and Yuzu. All of them are top notes which burn off much easier without any middle or base notes to support them during the soap making process. I’ve got a new way to fragrance a batch without exposing delicate scents like the Melange D’ Agrume has so next batch should have more scent strength right off the puck. Suppose I could have used synthetic Grapefruit fragrance oil for more scent strength but that’s something I pretty much stay away from.

Glad you enjoyed what you had.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Thanks Frank. I think it's a choice thing... Many shy away from sweeter scents. I've seen so many posts stating as much, "but don't worry, this isnt a sweet peach scent" or somesuch. I just prefer a sweet smell, personally.

I have to say, I can't give emphasis enough to that post shave feel. I'm floored at how good my skin feels after the shave, before any balm, etc. While I believe this is where you had been looking to make a large impact to the shave market, it's one thing to hear it and a whole other to experience it. Just awesome stuff.

2nd shave with Sudsy Soapery - Bayberry

Pick any of the three formulas and you're gonna get lather for days, an excellent shave, perfect post feel, and a totally natural scent.

So just go with the scent that sounds best for you.
(Or just buy them all)
