What soap/cream did you use today?

Despite finishing a tub, the den actually grew over the past few weeks.  I have several that I'm excited to try, including the new DFS/Ethos collaboration. 

But I was most excited to try a soap that was offered on the BST by vtmax the other day.  I had never heard of it before and turns out it is a one-woman shop out of Sweden.  The scents are very well done and I'm extremely impressed with the lather.  Today's shave was with Skogsra...a juniper-forward scent.  If you have tried GD Elan, it is similar but more subtle.  

Started the loading process with a dry puck and a slightly damp 24mm synthetic knot.  Loaded for about 45 seconds and noticed the lather was really "foamy" which had me concerned.  But that may be due to the fact the soap wasn't bloomed (we'll find out soon enough if that theory holds true  ).  Once the face-painting process started, the lather really started to form on the face.  It went from foamy to an appearance of dry paste within 2 minutes of painting (this really had me confused since, normally if I have too much foam, then the lather has way too much water).  About 50% of the knot was dipped into water at this point and back to face-painting.  The lather turned into a wonderful sheen after adding the water.  Admittedly, it didn't last long and it was time to add more water after about a minute or two.  This process went on for another ten minutes before taking the below pic.  

The scent of juniper, which is one of my favorites, stayed strong throughout the lathering process and the shave.  More importantly, this lather provided a great mix of cushion and slickness.  Obviously, I will need more experience with it but I would put the slickness in the top-tier category (ie Mystic Water).  Post-shave is turning out to be quite nice as well.  So far, I'm loving this new soap and I may need to use the Alvdans scent tomorrow

Martin de Candre shaving soap (+ Coate's Lavender shaving cream). The soap's scent is dark and musty - some have likened it to tar on a hot roof - but the Coate's cream's freshness balances it nicely.

Celebrating today - My youngest son of 3 is the starting hurler for the OSU Cowboys [ranked #9] : he got  the win against  Texas Tech [ranked #4] last night.  I was born near Farwell Texas -  my relatives are all Tech fans, and we all  understand what the smell of money is [cow manure] from  the stockyards. Maybe that is why rose is my favorite scent - grandma's rose garden offset that cow poo in Farwell when I was 4 years old  crawling around her backyard?
