If you like the idea of shaving with creosote, this is the soap for you. Sappy, strong, and bitter, Morocco smells like smoke and pitch. Fans of pine tar soap should like it very much. Fans of wood-burning stoves will love it. Today, in an attempt to sweeten it up a little, I spritzed the puck with Habit Rouge, a powdery citrus rose fragrance. But Morocco was too much for it. The smoky cade swallowed up all sweet, floral notes and left me smelling like I was shaving on freshly laid asphalt.
Is the MdC finished?  I've been gone for the past few days and may have missed your post.  If it is gone, congrats!  I have 3 to 5 shaves with Lit left and then i will have a Shannon's empty tub measurement you can add to the empty container list!

BTW, Morocco may be the finest smoke-scented soap ever created.  To me, it's like an exotic smoke.  I do hope he decides to make another round of it soon.  I would love to try the first version as I have read the cade was much too strong for some.
HoosierShave, I'm sorry and a little ashamed to say that the Martin de Candre Original 50g is not finished. After a dozen shaves, I fell off the wagon. What went wrong? I'm not exactly sure, but for some reason, my skin just gave up. So, I took a few days off and gave it some thought. It seems like my hide is happiest when I use only tallow soaps or alternate between tallow and non-tallow soaps. I really like Martin de Candre's lather, but maybe it's not the best choice for me every day. This week I'll explore some of my favorite tallow soaps, and then I'll think about using Original 50g every other day until it's done.

Good luck to you on polishing off Lit! Looks like you may have it done and dusted by the weekend. I've got a tub of Haymarket Vetiver that's probably going to make an appearance soon. Shannon's soaps are very nice, and like Martin de Candre, they've got some staying power. How many shaves will you get out of your tub of Lit? (And yes, I'd be very happy to have your weight of Shannon's empty tub and lid!)

I think I must have the second version of Morocco. I got it quite a while after all the brouhaha about the first version died down. It's strong, but not so strong that I can't use and enjoy it.

No need to be sorry or ashamed...quite honestly, sticking to one soap is a chore!  I never gave it a second thought when I used Barbasol in a can for 20+ years, day in and day out.  Now that I've discovered the joy of wet-shaving and the variety that comes with it, it's hard to go 2 days in a row with one soap Smile

Based on the spreadsheet, it looks like I will have approximately 35 uses from the tub.  If I averaged 3 grams per shave (which wouldn't be unreasonable based on my recent calculations), that would be 140 grams or 3.7 ounces.  Shannon's Soaps are listed at 4.0 oz.  My last shave with Lit only used 2.35 grams and it was a great lather.  Which means I don't need to load as much as I do, but with the amount of soap in my closet, I'm ok loading alot of soap for my shaves.

BTW, the Haymarket Vetiver is a great soap.  Several months ago I ordered a 2nd tub b/c I couldn't find my 1st tub.  Sure enough, i found the 1st tub shortly after receiving the 2nd.  So, once Lit is gone, the 1st tub of Haymarket Vetiver is going to replace it on the "Green Mile".

I really like the scent of Terre d’Hermès and gratefully there are several shaving soap/splashes to complement it.  The two best in my book are DR Harris Windsor and Fine Accoutrements L’Orange Noir.  Fine got the nod this morning.  It’s Orange for sure but bitter Orange vs sweet.  The Orange is backed by a clean earthiness that leaves a man smelling manly without the hyper-macho of a 70s power frag (which I love by the way) without being unisex. (Nothing wrong with unisex scents but they are not my jam).  I have a meeting with my largest client in two hours and this scent has me feeling confident and ready.  (That and the fact this client is above projections by 40 percent this year.). Make it a great day friends.
