Cubebe v. (Saponificio Varesino) spiced amber

Like Floris No. 89, Cubebe has a dose of nutmeg and black pepper that gives the lather a sweet, spicy aroma. White fir and bergamot keep it fresh, while deep down under there’s a pleasant woody amber that settles in with just about any fragrance. I like to finish with a spritz or two of Penhaligon’s Endymion, which is also loaded with nutmeg and black pepper, but ups the ante with a generous helping of cardamom, lavender, and sage to complete the barbershop vibe.
