What soap/cream did you use today?

I’m on a neroli roll lately. A few years ago if you asked me what my favorite scent notes were, I would have told you I like deep dark smells: smoke, tar, tobacco, toasted spice, and anything that could be dragged out of the backwoods. Recently, though, I rigged my spreadsheet to show me what scents I actually use. It turns out that most of the time I reach for citrus: orange blossom, grapefruit, lemon, lime, neroli, petitgrain, and sweet orange. These bright, clean notes go good with anything, perk up your day, and then have the courtesy to quickly move on, leaving plenty of olfactory space for your cologne. Compared with yesterday’s 88 Chestnut St, today’s Zagara Gelsomino is quite timid. Next time I’ll bloom it with 4711.

Sunday, in a rush to be shaved for Church meetings I took a swipe a bit too quick and reckless for the Gillette New Long Comb and shaved a bit of the alar rim from my right nostril. (How do you like them apples Bouki, with your devil-may-care vocabulary and you pogonotomy?). Hahaha.  I cant even fake being educated, and Bouki makes it look so easy.  Anyway, after I clipped my nostril and sat their looking like an 80s drug freak who mistook cherry koolaid for his coke, I grabbed my big ol styptic pencil which is the size of a first-graders fattie crayon and staunched the blood.  Don’t know what I too was thinking when I bought that pencil.  I suppose, looking at my soap collection, that excess is the name of the game and even though this is only the second time in probably 6 years it has seen the field.  It’s amazing how quickly an alar cut heals when performed with super sharp steel and treated with some raw Shea.  Can hardly even see it this morning.  But being a bit jittery at my performance yesterday I chose a. Tried and true “hug soap” today.  Sir Henrys Sandalwood for the win.  Man I love this soap.
