What soap/cream did you use today?

And, on the other hand, my taste of scents mesh very well with T+S.  I confess I bought Madagascar by mistake and the ylang ylang I can't take and I did find Boreal too "sweet" but I've loved others (e.g., Sicily, West Indies, Merry, India Bay (love it)).  But, Lipripper600 what, to you, does Classic 2 smell like?  I can't get a full sense from the ingredients. What I really want to know is whether it is at all sweet or perfume-y?  As I said, Boreal disappointed because it smelt a bit too sweet, rather like birch beer to me.  (BTW, am going to put up my unused Madagascar soap and AS for sale soon; anyone here want dibs on it, message me.)

I don’t know what this soap smells like because I just don’t do Tallow and Steel anymore.  As stated, good base but I have yet to find a scent that really interests me.  Other makers I do purchase are predictably pleasant.  Can’t help you with the scent on this one but I can share that if TommyCarioca reports it smells like pinesol, I would believe him. Boreal sounded great. To me it missed a Boreal experience by several miles. Maya smelled like a crummy Mole. Morocco billed as a Smokey rose really piqued my interest only to find no Rose present. I quit trying after that knowing full well it was tickling someone else’s fancy and I am glad for them.

Sad day in wet shaving - there  is a ripple in the force. Fine has discontinued 2 scent lines and their associated products.: Santal and Fresh Vetiver. . WtH are they doing. I am mad at myself for not stock piling my inventory. Will not happen again. I am going to take inventory and horde the stuff I really like. Boys this is heartbreaking for me. That was probably my number one wet shave fragrance. Nero and Lip like it as well I think. Maybe Dom can dupe that smell and we will have an even better base, packaging, and stability with that Santal Absolute smell.

Oh, DRH was chosen to cheer me up. Need something bright. I bought 250ml of TF Neroli Portofino to bathe in.

Discontinued my favorite scents.  I can still get Tom Fords help with Fresh Vetiver and Gerlaine for green vetiver but Santal Absolut.   What are they thinking.....

Mikes Vetiver is not a perfume type vetiver at all but neither is it rank and rowdy like Salters Vetiver either.  In fact vetiver is a most interesting scent note in that unlike lilac varieties that look different but smell very similar, vetivers are all over the board from Smokey to dirty to nutty to lemony.  All of them are noticeably vetiver but they are as different as are football players that wear the same jersey.  Most vetiver scented soaps actually have other notes that compliment the vetiver but others let the vetiver wagon out of the barn.  For example, Saponificio Varesino Desert Vetiver to my nose is so cleaned up that I cannot pick out a vetiver note in the mix.  Black Tie/Sir Henrys Black Velvet has black pepper and vetiver and both notes shine (with the vetiver playing Lea guitar.  Right Hoosier?). And Mikes is just vetiver and I like it like that.  There is a kiss of the lemony vetiver here but nutty is the bigger note.  Smoke and dirt are not really in this one but that is just fine because as they say, variety is the spice of life.

If vetiver plays lead guitar in Black Velvet, then Black Pepper is the lead vocalist

Fine?  Why?  I learned yesterday that Fine is discontinuing Green Vetiver, Fresh Vetiver, Santal Absolut, and Lavender pro Homme. Why?  Talking to vendors these were not slow sellers.  All of them I really like. Well, I’ve got some for awhile but then so long old Friend.

88 Chestnut St t. (Declaration Grooming) neroli explosion

Sweet, fresh, fruity, 88 Chestnut St is a little love song to neroli. Sniff again and you may pick up peach, grapefruit, apricot, a bit of wood, and lavender. The fragrance follows the pattern of a bright, traditional cologne. In other words, it plays nice with 4711. You can give it extra credit for its intensity – you won’t forget what you’re shaving with when you lather it up. It’s also soft and easy loading, and that’s a good thing since I’ve marked 2021 as my year of gross consumption. It’s time to chip away at the twelve kilos of soap bowing my shelf. I never said the word sabbatical, but you will not see many new soaps in these notes for some time. What you will see, though, is the width and breadth of my hoard, and I expect we’ll have a good time wearing it all away.
