Seaforth! Heather t. (Spearhead) anisic fougère

I really like this bold licorice fougère, but I have to admit there’s a musty something at the tail end of the scent that isn’t always appealing. I can’t tell if it’s part of the fragrance or part of the base. Now there’s nothing wrong with the soap’s performance. It churns out a wonderful lather and finishes generously. But that smell. This is going to take some getting used to. It’s sort of like falling in love with a beautiful ballerina only to discover that her feet smell like cheese.

Felce Aromatica from SV - It has enough “spice” that it feels so pleasant in our cooler weather

Lather is very creamy, but I have been adding a light smear or kokum and mango butter on top of the puck before blooming

As much as I’m glad we won independence and are not subjects of Her Majesty, I can’t help but like those old-school English triple milled shaving soaps.  The Bath House is a brand new baby compared to the older places like Trumpers, Harris  as they opened shop in 1997.  Tending to cater to a feminine clientele, I have been very surprised that their shaving soap works so well.  They offer exactly one scent, Spanish Fig and Nutmeg but it is expertly crafted.  Maybe 3.5 of 10 but it doesn’t fade during the lather.  I know they tout the fig and nutmeg but those notes seem to actually be intended as skin care ingredients.  I’m not a scent detective, and I don’t rightly know what a Spanish fig is supposed to smell like but I do enjoy figs and I know nutmeg and neither of these scents take center stage.  What I do smell is citrus and wood.  Orange and cedar to be specific with some sweetness intertwined which might be the jammy scent of fig?  Subtle, not garish. persistent not flashy. so very British I suppose.  The best thing they did was to choose a maker that has a soap that lathers.  I assume they are using the same base as Salters or Harris because that is about how this soap lathers.  I thoroughly enjoyed today’s copious lather shave.[Image: ZoDviRq.jpg]
