Manna di Sicilia v. (Saponificio Varesino) woody floral
Saponificio Varesino lists some nine notes in its description of this soap’s scent. I’m supposed to smell bergamot and orange and rose and cloves and even hydrangeas. What I actually pick up is some vague flowery bits and an enormously dry, bitter patchouli. It’s so dry, in fact, it burns my nose to smell it. There’s not a drop of sweet in this anywhere. It reminds me of Santa Maria Novella’s dry-as-dust Patchouli cologne. Manna di Sicilia may take some getting used to.
