My son dropped by my Home this weekend and left several soaps to try.  (He also took several for the same purpose.)  Today I loaded Barrister and Mann Terror.  Terror is a homage to the ill-fated arctic voyage of HMS Terror and Sister Ship Erebus.  They were hunting a NW passage and got iced in.  The crews abandon ship and attempt a hike of 600 miles to the nearest Hudson Bay Company outpost.  There must have been weeks on the ships, locked in ice, awaiting a shift in weather that would allow them to escape.  It must have been shear terror to abandon the ships to hike 600 miles in arctic weather.  Reports and forensic evidence would suggest that some resorted to cannibalism.  In the end, all hands were lost.
The scent notes are frankincense to give the smell of the ships timbers, sea water, peppermint expressing coldness, and a dose of synthetic menthol to freeze your bones.  It certainly doesn’t offer the experience of starvation, black fingers and toes, and a taste for your buddies but I sure get it.  Knowing the history pre-shave allowed me to experience what B&M accomplished here.

Vintage Shaver

Floris No. 89 shaving soap (tallow) + a few drops of a Bulgaria Rose Absolute/Rose Hydrosol mix (2 drops of absolute in 50ml). The mixture just made the lather slightly sweeter, so I'll have to try using a bit more - perhaps a tsp or so - next time.

I too enjoy the unscented version.
