It took 3 weeks but my SV finally arrived!  I put a layer a VERY hot water (not boiling though) on top while I showered - loaded a damp 30mm tuxedo for about 25 seconds and proceeded to face-lather - either I had way too much soap or too much water to start out but took quite awhile to get a good lather going - despite my ineptitude for SV (or any triple-milled soap for that matter), I am looking forward to spending time with this soap to figure it out...the scent alone is well worth extra time I'll spend with it Happy2

Jeeves of Hudson Street

I have had this puck for years - scent is gone now. Still lathers easily. Very creamy low profile lather. Tallow recipe of course. I need more!

Try it boys.

No problems with volume, Hoosiershave! You've got enough there to paint the white lines on the highway from Indianapolis to Omaha. But it looks like it may have got too wet, too soon. I get my best lather when I use only the bloom water at first and then add tap water sparingly towards the end. I've noticed, too, that the first shave with a new puck of Saponificio Varesino always comes out a bit too airy.

Agrumes v. (Martin de Candre) pale citrus

Martin de Candre encourages its users to leave their soap uncovered: 'the more natural air it has, the drier it becomes'. No point in quibbling over the difference between 'natural' and other types of air. I've only gone one type here. But what happens to the scent of the soap if it's left open all the time? This little tub of Agrumes was lightly scented to begin with. Now that it's been uncorked for a couple months, its lovely citrus fragrance has evaporated, and what I get mostly is the typical rubber sludgy smell of the Martin de Candre base. Pity I didn't leave a cap on this to keep the good smells in.
