Royal Fougère t. (Asylum Shave Works) garden fern
Fresh mint ringed with a garland of lavender, rosemary, and basil - the smell of an herb garden in high summer – that's what this soap reminds me of. Lathering brings out the earthy, mossy notes of musk, amber, and patchouli that give the aroma balance. It's all instantly attractive, especially if you like a traditional fougère such as Penhaligon's English Fern or Trumper's Wild Fern. How's the performance? After tinkering for months with some pretty finicky products, it's really nice to dip my brush again into a soap that doesn't need boiling blooms, monthly kneads, or fastidious loading. Royal Fougère makes an effortless lather, thick and glossy, with ample protection and a lasting scent. Though the label says Asylum, it's certainly Wet Shaving Product's Formula-T base. Great soap.
